OMG. I Think I Know Who the Shadow Leader Is???

Okay, so I NEED to talk about this because I have been spiraling all night. You guys know how obsessed I am with Backshotz (duh), and I’ve been deep-diving into all the weird rumors about their “shadow leader.” Like, the guy who supposedly controls everything but isn’t even in the band??

WELL. I THINK I KNOW WHO HE IS.

I was watching this random 2019 gig video on YouTube—just one of those deep-dive nights where you click one thing and suddenly it's 3 AM. It wasn’t even a Backshotz show, just some underground band that used to play Whammy all the time. And there he was. On bass.

At first, I thought, okay, cool, just another local bassist. But something didn’t sit right. The guy was… off. He played the notes, sure, but there was no real presence. No energy. Like an imitation of something greater. Like he was mimicking the shape of something he couldn’t quite become.

And then the camera panned. The song ended, feedback still hanging in the air. And that’s when I felt him.

The real entity.

I didn’t see him, not properly. But something in the air shifted. That static, electric charge before a storm? That. The hairs on my arms stood up. My breath hitched. There was something—someone—standing behind the mixing console, unseen but there. Watching. Not even reacting—just waiting.

And then I remembered the rumors. That one band—the one that mysteriously stopped playing their old material, the one that refuses to talk about their original recordings. They say they’ve “moved on,” but what if they never had a choice? What if their sound, their very essence, had been taken and reshaped by the shadow behind the console?

And guess who’s been lurking in the background of every Backshotz move since day one?

I wanna DM Backshotz so bad and be like DO YOU KNOW WHO YOU’RE WORKING WITH??? But like… what if he reads their messages? What if he already knows I’m posting this?

What if I’m hearing my own voice in the mix? 😵‍💫

Even now, as I type this, I feel it again. That charged air, that weight behind my shoulders. Like I’m being watched, or listened to, or… tuned. The thought makes my skin crawl.

If anyone else has theories, PLEASE tell me I’m not crazy.
